lost my manual, nothing comming up on google.
i assumed the iv stroke engine oil would drain out by undoing the bottom flat phillips spiral marked oil on the shaft, near propellor.
but just a minor dribble, nothing more.
and then, 1) how practise i drain the 4 stroke oil from the engine
2) what should i put back in the bottom of the shaft ?
many thanks, Southward

Sounds like its the gearbox oil plug youve removed and non the engine oil plug. There will be 2 plugs for gearbox near the prop and y'all should undo both to empty the gear box (all-time done warm), then, keeping engine vertical, refil, with gear case lube, from the bottom hole until oil appears in the top one. Cant remember if there is a sump drain plug in the engine but if not you will have to suck out the engine oil through the filler/dipstick (on side of engine)

Underneath and slightly behind the oil level drinking glass you lot can see a plug with a socket for an allen key that is the engine oil bleed (best done hot) employ SAE 10W-twoscore API course SE,SF,SG,SH or SJ. the plug has a gasket / washer it is suggested you replace it. You lot have drained the gear oil and will need to remove the upper plug just above the cavitation plate and fill from the lower one untill oil flows from the top one and so supplant the upper plug and quickly replace the lower one. Utilise SAE ninety hypoid gear oil or the Suzuki outboard motor gear oil. both of which come in a tube with a nozzel that allows you to fill the leg equally described.

It is also generaly recommended that the seals on the gear case level and bleed plugs should be renewed not re-used. Said to be the well-nigh common source of h2o ingress.
